Snow and ice management services is a difficult service to provide and we, at Elite Grounds, have been in the business for over 30 collective years. Not only is our company pleasant to work with, we are professionals at snow and ice removal.
What equipment does elite grounds use?
Our company was one of the first in Utah to bring in and use the Blizzard Hydraulic Wing Plows. We have been using them since 2001 and we have not found anything better! Expand plow wings at the touch of a button, and maximize your plow blade width, for greater snow plowing efficiency.
what separates our plows from other competition?
As you can see in this diagram below, the plow on the right (which is what Elite uses) is much more effective than the plow on the right. With our Blizzard Plows we are able to clean up more in less time. We clear your lots and docks quicker with our efficient plows and ensure they stay clear and safe with our ice melter.
Ice Removal (Melter's)
How does freezing point depression works? When you add salt to water, you introduce dissolved foreign particles into the water. The freezing point of water becomes lower as more particles are added until the point where the salt stops dissolving. For a solution of table salt (sodium chloride, NaCl) in water, this temperature is -21°C (-6°F) under controlled lab conditions. In the real world, on a real sidewalk, sodium chloride can melt ice only down to about -9°C (15°F) into a brine state.
What ice melter does elite grounds use?
The ice melt that Elite Grounds uses is a higher quality ice melt because it is:
Less corrosive to metal and concrete than just using salt
It's effective as low as -12°F to -20°F, salt only goes to -9°F
Safer for people, animals, and vegetation
what others use?
Most of our competition use these less effective ice melts. Compared to what Elite Grounds uses, you will have to use anywhere between the amount of 2 to 4 times of product to get the same result of ice melting. Here are some key point to keep in mind oh what to expect when using these kinds of products:
Causes filmy and slick surfaces
Can damage concrete
Requires larger amounts of product for colder temperatures
Dilutes quickly which allows refreezing
What you see here is the result of the two types of Ice Melters that Elite Grounds uses. The weather forecast that we had to work with was a sleet storm that created an ice layer on the parking lot that was about 1/2" thick. Here are a few pictures to show how it looked before and how it turned out 20 minutes after we applied our strong and safe ice melter.
